Hi, hope english is ok since i dont speak german.
Does anyone know IF a engine from a C500 -81 is possible to fit in a A55 -78? Regards Magnus

Hey Magnus,
the engine swap is possible, although not plug'n'play. Both the tractors have different engines, Holder VD3 at A55 and Holder 6001-3 at C500. The 6001 is a further stage of the VD3 engine with more displacement and more power. They look similar, but are not the same! This results in some constructive changes, as the biggest difference I would say you should consider the clutch. It is 200 mm in diameter at the VD3 engine and 240 mm at the 6001 to handle the higher torque. Other changes are the oil pan which is a supporting part at the 6001 engine. To fit it in the A55 you may have to change the oil pan, the clutch bell housing at the engine side and the clutch itself, maybe even the flywheel. And you should have in mind that the clutch housing plate (called "crown" at the spare parts list) at the engine side also contains one of the crankshaft main bearings. Maybe you have to consider even more, I don't know it exactly 'cause I've never done it but heard of it many times and saw some pictures I will attach you. They all say it is some work to do. I would also suggest if you use a 200-clutch to take stronger springs to handle the higher torque, maybe there is also a way to fit the 240 mm clutch with some changes. Over all it is possible with some changes when you know what you are doing. For example a known Holder dealer in Remshalden Germany swapped some of these engines in the past and they are still running in it's clientage until today. In the attachment you will find some pictures of a 6001-4 engine swapped into an A45. It's basically the same except that the -4 has an additional turbocharger and the A45 is the smaller Version of the A55. Thanks for the Quick reply Julian.
My A55 runs Great but sometimes i have to transport my logtrailer with load and The engine is a bit weak for that. A friend of mine have a C500 that is for sale and he has given me a good price. So just wondering IF It was possible. I Will buy the C500 anyway since i could use it with a snow blade and other things. Regards Magnus
